Bakke Case

The issue of affirmative action can be a touchy one. For one thing many people over the age of 40 have experienced affirmative action on either end depending upon their race. I think it is important for all students to realize that there have been programs implemented to help minorities in getting better paying jobs, entry into universities, or be able to climb the social ladder. I think that all students should know that all programs can either hurt or help a certain group of people. Even though the government feels compelled to help all citizens in this case I think they should have allowed people to work it out on their own. Because people are constantly telling us that their gaps in learning and the work force then we will continue to acknowledge them. But if we would allow society to run its course I feel that the nation could become "color blind".
