How I Address Constitutional History

This is an area that I am not very strong in. With so little time to thoroughly cover all the happenings in American History I don't spend enough time looking at the constitution. For one thing we begin teaching US History starting in 1870 so the constitution is already established at that time. What I do like to do is look at some of the Constitutional Amendments that had a lasting impact on our world today. I did also talk about the Supreme Court and how big of an influence they are in regards to amendments.
What I am developing for the fall is a Constitution scavenger hunt for the first week of school. This way I could get an idea of how much they know about the document that governs their lives. I can suspect that it is very little.
