Child of the Grassy Plain-Chapter 1-Miner

In the first chapter of the book it gives a good overview of the people of Kansas. It made several remarks about how people are different in Kansas than any other part of United States. It seemed that Kansans are more concerned about morality than prosperity. I have already used some of the information in my classes. I talked about the Kansas Nebraska Act to make kids realize that states didn't just become a state there was a process and sometimes compromises had to be made before history could be made.
